Overview
The Digital Archive & Living Repository Initiative is a core program of In His Spirit, Inc., dedicated to preserving, protecting, and sustaining Indigenous knowledge through the creation of and connection to culturally grounded repositories.
This initiative ensures that the voices of Indigenous elders—shared through interviews, storytelling, and lived experience—are documented and carried forward across written, audio, and video formats. These repositories serve as living systems of knowledge, where teachings remain accessible, respected, and guided by cultural responsibility for generations to come.
Purpose
The purpose of this initiative is to safeguard Indigenous knowledge systems by establishing pathways for long-term preservation, access, and intergenerational learning.
Through the development of living repositories, this work ensures that elder voices continue to guide future generations, strengthen identity, and inform community-based development rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing.
What Is a Living Repository
A living repository is not simply a digital archive. It is a culturally grounded system of stewardship.
These repositories are designed to preserve oral histories, teachings, and lived experiences while maintaining cultural context, meaning, and relationship. Rather than functioning as static collections, they reflect ongoing responsibility to the knowledge, the people, and the communities from which it comes.
This approach ensures that knowledge remains alive, relational, and guided by community values rather than separated from its cultural foundation.
Program Components
Elder Voice Documentation
This work includes the preservation of elder interviews, oral histories, teachings, and personal reflections through written narratives, audio recordings, video, and transcription.
Digital Preservation Systems
The initiative supports the secure storage, organization, and long-term stewardship of materials in formats designed for sustainability, access, and responsible use.
Community-Based Access

In His Spirit, Inc. uses technology as a tool to support cultural preservation, not replace it.
